Najwa’s Journey Beyond Adversity

For Najwa, life was a series of uphill battles, but her resilience and determination carried her forward.

As a mother to an 8-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl, Najwa lives with the added challenges of a disability. Her marriage was marked by control and rejection, leaving her feeling trapped in a home that offered no safety or support. Despite relying on her husband for financial assistance, the environment became unbearable, and she decided to separate.

Even after the separation, Najwa’s challenges persisted. Living in a basement, she struggled to provide for her children after her husband withdrew financial assistance. Overwhelmed but not defeated, Najwa reached out to us at National Zakat Foundation (NZF).

Because of you, we were able to offer immediate support with essentials including rent, food, clothing and helping Najwa ensure her children could return to school. This assistance was a turning point. 

With renewed hope, Najwa took a leap of faith and enrolled in college, determined to build a stable future for her family.

Today, Najwa has moved out of the oppressive environment that once held her back. She’s pursuing higher education while raising her children, showing them what courage and perseverance can achieve.
