From Isolation to Support in Vancouver
Basma’s story is one of resilience. She’s a single Muslim woman, a survivor of abuse within her family. She had finally moved out and for months had been supporting herself financially. But things changed once again after her car accident.
Despite many difficulties, she had survived the biggest trials of her life.
The accident had left Basma in a vulnerable position. She fractured her foot leaving her unable to work.
With no help from her family and ineligible for government support Basma, a single Muslim woman, felt alone and lost. The hunger was intensifying and soon, she would be facing eviction.
But then, because of you, her situation changed. Basma found out about National Zakat Foundation from a friend and reached out to us.
She was provided immediate relief with rent and food, ensuring she had access to essential groceries. This support alleviated her immediate financial burdens, allowing her to focus on her recovery.
Because of your support, Basma made new friends she was able to heal emotionally and found a remote job that allowed her to regain financial independence, without worrying about her mobility issues. The support you provided gave her the stability she needed.
