The Story of A Single Father

Ahmad came to us in the worst of circumstances -- a convert whose wife divorced him, taking their youngest child with her, and leaving him to care for their two children with special needs.

He did the best he could to support his children on his own, but he fell on hard times. Without anywhere to live, he stayed in a hotel for almost two months, maxing out his credit cards and lines of credit in the process.

Finding a suitable place to live was difficult with his children's special needs, but when someone finally agreed to rent their basement to Ahmad, his ex-wife decided to leave their youngest child with him as well.

In order to care for his kids, Ahmad was unable to work as much as before, making it harder for him to pay rent and put food on the table.

Ahmad was running out of options when he heard of National Zakat Foundation. He came in to discuss his case when he learned that we would help him with rent and food. He couldn't hold back, proclaiming, "ALLAHU AKBAR" and broke down crying, bringing everyone at the office to tears.
