Helplessness filled my every pore, but I couldn’t quit now.

This was my fresh start, my new beginning, the path I would take to achieve my goals.

I moved from Bangladesh to Canada to study health sciences. My goal: to become a doctor.

I regularly called my family back home and on one such occasion after a successful first year at school, I got news that my family was undergoing massive financial stress.

International tuition was so high that they could no longer afford to keep me in Canada. They asked me to drop out of school and come back. I felt helpless, upset and worried. I contacted the National Zakat Foundation to help finance a ticket for me to get back home. They agreed to, but amidst our back and forth, I realized how much I wanted to complete my education. I couldn’t quit now. So, I decided to ask NZF if they could help cover my living costs while I worked to cover tuition on my own.

I am now still in school and with NZF’s help, I don’t have to worry about stressing out my family.
